The rain fell as Lando slowly made his way through the wet streets of London.

The honk of cars was just so familiar, and almost reassuring as he started the climb up a stairwell. He couldn’t believe he had gotten to this stage as to go this far to stop this.

He reached the top of the building and leaned on the barriers that were preventing sickos like him from jumping or little children from accidentally falling. A singular butterfly came fluttering up and landed on his nose for a few moments as if saying goodbye. He went cross-eyed as he admired the small figment of beauty left in the world.

The butterfly delicately fluttered away off Lando’s scarred nose until it was a small speck in the sky. He inhaled a deep breath and clambered over the barriers. Closing his eyes, he mentally said goodbye to all his friends and family.

    And he jumped.

    He was falling… falling…

Time seemed to speed up and slow down at the same time. And his broken body hit the floor.

Lando awoke some time later. He groaned, his entire body aching. Why couldn’t he have just died?

He realised that he was no longer in the streets of London, instead in a forest where bright sunlight was filtering through the trees. He also realised he wasn’t flat on the ground, he seemed to be laying on something, or someone.

Faint breathing that wasn’t his own caused him to look up.
