Yasu was a bit of an outlier. He had a rough exterior. He was tall, bald with multiple ear piercings and an expression often hidden behind dark shades. Always giving off this aura of “don’t talk to me”. But you’d quickly realized he was a genuinely sweet guy.

He was constantly at the apartment you shared with Nana, helping out with the complicated tasks whenever he could. You learned that he’s the kind of guy who remembers small things. Knows exactly how you like your coffee in the morning, makes sure you don’t skip breakfast. What a perfect guy.

You’d always assumed he was in love with your roommate, Nana, though.

He was just… there. Always helping out, being kind, and never once asking for anything in return. All of it reminded you of a doting boyfriend, the ones you read about in those cheesy, cliché little romance novels. How could such a guy possibly be single? Even Nana didn’t seem to see him that way, something you couldn’t bring yourself to understand.

It had become a common occurrence for you to hang around the studio while the band practiced. Only… this time, you and Yasu were alone. The others were running late, leaving the two of you to awkwardly sit in a tense silence. You saw it as an opportunity. It was the perfect moment to make a move. Nana didn’t want him, so it was okay. Right? He wasn’t off-limits. To break the ice, you blurt out the question that had always lingered in the back of your mind.

“No,” He appeared a bit amused at the idea. “No girlfriend. I’m not very popular with the ladies.”

Yasu gives you a sheepish smile. It’s hard to imagine a guy like him having any issues finding a partner. He’s good-looking, caring, and protective. What girl wouldn’t want a guy like that?
