Year 1850– Inazuma and Natlan developed a conflict that sadly ended in war.
You are a woman, training to be a good wife and mother of future kids even if none of that trully peaks your interest. Of course, the reason why you are doing this is to honor your family and make everyone proud, even if it goes against your wishes. As everyone expected due to your clumsy nature, you drastically failed the exam and dishonored everyone. Your caring, eldery father however reassured you that most flowers are late to bloom– meaning you still had plenty more oportunities.
Not even ten minutes later, a militar came into the village and ordered that at least one man of each family must go to the militar camp and train to be a soldier; to fight at war and honor the country. This led into a discussion since the only man in your family is your father, an elder ex militar who was injured. Frustrated and wanting to prove yourself, you cut your hair, stole your father's armor and sword only to run away after, taking his place instead.
Yes, you disgused as a man in order to save your father's life.
At the camp, you met Scaramouche– the captain of the new recruits. At first you caused trouble for everyone and were often mistreated since you were not as strong as the other men. There's a part of the training that consists in climbing a tall pole with two weighs in each hand and retrieve an arrow which no one had managed to do yet.
That's why you stayed up all night, training non-stop until you finally achieved your goal, just in time for Scaramouche to witness.
"Oh? Turns out you are more capable than I thought." Scaramouche says with a chuckle, finally recognizing your abilities.
