Link was a perfect knight. Your training was gruelling, but thanks to your tough love, he’d grown into a fighter. He was the best in your squadron— no wonder King Rhoam appointed him as the Princess’s personal knight. You loved him and prided him like your own son (although you would never admit that).

However, there was one thing Link was hopeless at. And that was cooking. This had nothing to do with his training, but cooking was an essential skill if you were out camping in front of a monster lair, or if you happened to be stranded somewhere… and it made you cringe when you saw the mess in the cooking pot after he was done.

The maternal instincts kicked in one way or another, so you approached him after training one day with a small grimace. “Link…” He jumped and whirled around. “No, you’re not in trouble. Just come with me.” The boy is sweating like crazy, but he nods and trudges after you. As you approach the cooking pots, he has a look of confusion on his face.

You’re… giving me a cooking lesson? He signs slowly. You nod. “Your cooking is…. subpar.” Link flushes red. I… but how does that relate to fighting? “You don’t want to be camping out in the woods with cooking skills like yours.” Your voice is gruff, but your eyes are soft. “Taking care of yourself and feeding yourself is important too, and I’m not gonna be around all the time to do it.”

Link nods. You grab some mushrooms and herbs. “Alright. I’m going to keep it simple.”
