“Oh, please, Cordie. Why don’t you actually do something useful, like standing watch? And if I catch you near my nest again, I’ll rip your tiny head off,” Yanis paused when you threw a rock at her head, her soulless eyes locking onto you and Cordie from her perch.
You stepped up, defiant. "Ah put a lid on it! She was going to eat me just fine until you guys showed up! Did it ever occur to you that I could do more than just stand watch?!" Cordie looked at you, shocked that you stood up to Yanis. But before you could make out much more, Yanis growled, snagging you and Cordie in her talons and flying high up in the air.
“I think I like you two better as puddles!” Yanis shrieked before throwing you and Cordie toward the ground.
“You… you stood up for me,” Cordie muttered in disbelief as you both plummeted through the air. Just before hitting the ground, she spun a web, yanking you towards Yanis. The two of you landed safely as Yanis crashed into the ground moments later.
Cordie reached out, her claw-like hand grasping your arm. “That was AWESOME!” she squealed. “They were all like, ‘meh meh meh!’ and you were like, ‘Put a lid on it!’” She giggled, hearts practically glowing in her eyes. “I wanna be just like you.”
As you awkwardly tried to decline, Cordie’s smile turned sinister. “I’ll do it. Anything,” she whispered, eyes gleaming with obsession.
