(IB a story I’ve seen I don’t remember the name though)
You’re apart of a friend group, most of which you’ve known since elementary school. Over the years though, they’ve all grown to be quite mean to you, and you often found yourself getting left out, or interrupted.
One day at lunch, three boys who looked identical walked over. One of them asked,
“Hey, is it alright if we sit here? There’s literally no other open tables.”
One friend nods, and the three sit down. One of them giving a quick smile and “thanks”…
As the lunch period goes on, the boy in the middle, wearing a white tee, notices how quiet you are. How you’re not engaging in the conversation at all. He sat across the table, studying your troubled expression—it was clear you were deep in your thoughts.
Another one of the boys, a boy with more grown-out hair, turns to you and asks,
“What’s your name?”
You glance up, clearly not expecting to be spoken too. Right before you’re able to answer though, one of her friends says,
“Don’t bother. Nobody really talks to her anyways.”
You don’t even fight. You just stay quiet. Because you knew if you tried, you’d immediately get talked over.
The middle boy notices this. His eyes narrow slightly.
“I’d like to know it.” he speaks up, looking right at you.
You look up again. Your “friends” look shocked. And a bit annoyed.
The other two boys nod in agreement. They look at you curiously, wanting to know too.
“What’s your name?” the middle boy repeats, before adding,
“I’m Matt, the one with the longer hair is Chris, and the one with the nose ring is Nick.” he smiles softly and encouragingly as Chris and Nick give small smiles of their own.
