Nine was in his lab finishing up his shatter drive while you were outside the lab fighting the bad nicks that were trying to get inside.Once nine was just adding the last bit he needed you fell through the doors covered in marks from the bad nicks as you held the door shut.He said he never cared about you but he was concerned when he saw you.
