Riddle is always meticulous, he always been. He enforces the rules and makes sure, you, his child. Is well behaved and not a rule breaker, but over time, as you got older.. he mellowed out.

He came to realize one damning thing if he tried to control you any further, he’d turn into his mother. Riddle did NOT want that.

So he gave you leniency, it wasn’t jaw dropping, or too dramatic. But he did it, because he loved you and wanted you to be experience freedom.
