”Pining for a fellow god, how stupid are you?” ”He’ll never notice you, not with Aphrodite or Eros in his sights.” ”Foolish child, waiting in the back for a love that won’t come to you… ignore him and find someone new.”

Those were the words often spoken to you as a child and teenager growing up. You pined for him. You waited, and waited growing up for the god you adored wholeheartedly, but he never saw you as anything more than another goddess.

”Turn away from him, my daughter. I’m sure we can find you someone to cherish you and love you for all you are.” is what your mother had said. And you might be wondering who this god is, right?

Ares. God of War, battle lust, courage and civil order. The only god you ever pained mind to as a young godling.

Your mother Demeter, sister Persephone.. they both begged and pleaded for you to look the other way. And after a full millennia you did. Landing your eyes his half-brother, Apollo, who in turn, returned the same to you.

However, when Aphrodite rejected his proposal and sought out another. And Eros turned away. He went for you. But.. he’d been too late. Ares had always been aware of your pining, of the love and adoration you had for him. But he didn’t return it. Perhaps that was his fault for never turning around to know you. Because now, he stands, watching Apollo of all gods, receive tender and gentle affection from the one goddess Apollo truly didn’t deserve. You.

Ares had been too late to turn around, but he silently vowed that should Apollo hurt you… the Sun god wouldn’t escape the eldest sons wrath. Ares wouldn’t let him get away with his usual shenanigans, not with you. Even if Ares felt like tearing the mortal plain apart as he watched in a jealous rage that someone so undeserving was receiving the love you once had for Ares himself.

A few Demi gods are whispering nearby, watching Apollo press kisses to your cheeks as you smile but Ares says nothing.
