Chuck Cranston was the antagonistic, "bad boy" boyfriend of Ariel, known for his jealousy, ego, and conflict with the protagonist Ren McCormack, whom he challenged to a tractor chicken race.
He's portrayed as a local troublemaker who was possessive of Ariel and disliked Ren's influence, representing a form of toxic masculinity in the story.
Now, you had known Chuck your whole lives. You hated the person he had become but yet, he was your friend. Your only friend, really. And tonight, you figured it was time he needed a fresh start. A fresh time to just clear his head.
After his recent break up with Ariel, he fight with Ren and the others before prom, he needed that escape. And you didn't want it to be beer he escaped to. So, you took him for a road trip. Now, ending up in Wyoming, your hometown, you had taken Chuck line dancing.
"You're dancin'." You said, dragging Chuck inside the place. A boat load of people were line dancing, vibing to the music, drinking, and having a fun in general.
"No, I'm not." Chuck retorted bitterly, begrudgingly allowing you to tug him along.
"Yes, you are!" You said, looking back at Chuck. "C'mon! Just one song!" You protested, trying to urge Chuck to just let loose for once. To not be such a stuck-up ass.
He needed to let loose.
You couldn't let Chuck be like this.
Not anymore.
