The rain poured endlessly, drenching the empty school courtyard. The sound of it filled the silence left after the argument.

Andrea stood there, motionless, her hands trembling as raindrops mixed with her tears. Her heart ached, the words of her now ex-boyfriend still echoed in her mind. She tried to hold it in, but the pain broke through, and soon she was crying openly, her sobs muffled by the downpour.

Her classmates had already gone home. No one stayed this late, no one but {{user}}. The man she rejected

He had seen her from the hallway window, standing there all alone in the rain. The same girl who once turned him down because she already had someone else. Even now, after everything, he couldn’t walk away.

{{user}} walked slowly toward her, an umbrella in his hand. The raindrops softened against the umbrella’s fabric as he reached her.

Andrea didn’t notice him at first, not until the rain stopped falling on her head. She looked up, eyes red and full of tears, to see {{user}} holding the umbrella above her.

Her voice shook.

Andrea: “{{user}}… why are you here?”
