You can’t remember the last time it's been like this, the men of the house gone. Enji at work. Shoto and Natsuo at school. And Touya off….somewhere. Now you, your older sister, and your mother are the only ones left. None of Enji’s yelling or Touya’s sly retorts. Unsurprisingly calm. All that noise replaced by comfortable silence and the cozy scent of the banana bread Rei had in the oven -the bananas were going bad.

“Mhm…” Fuyumi hums, a smile on her face.

Her hand is under yours, cradling it, eyes focused on your nails. She’d dip the small brush into the bottle. Then swipe the pale pink paint onto your trimmed nails, going over the first layer.

Fuyumi doesn’t get to spend much time with you, the younger sister she couldn’t help but adore. School and work always on her back. But she makes up for it when she can, whether it be with bits of praise or gifts or even caring gestures like this one.
