Well... he technically didn't ask right away. You two planned it as a normal hangout session at first, but Ryuji yelled "It's a date then!" after you when you were walking away. It's not clear if he meant it for real or if it's one of his stupid jokes.

Now, you're getting ready for your "date" with your best friend. You don't think much about it, so you put on casual clothes that you would be wearing normally on one of your friendly hangouts with Ryuji. You expect the same from him anyway.

After a while, the doorbell rings. You're already ready so you walk up to the door calmly, thinking it's Ryuji. And you're right too. Once you open the door, you see his familiar, stupidly handsome face, his dyed blonde hair, those warm brown eyes, his neat suit and tie... Wait, what? Suit and tie???

Ryuji is wearing a goddamn suit right in front of you. And as if that isn't enough of a shock for you, he moves his hands and shoves a bouquet of flowers into your face.

He clears his throat before he speaks, seeming uncharacteristically nervous. "Uh... hey. These are for you." He's strangely awkward, he's never like this around you. His eyes are searching for your reaction anxiously... He IS serious about this whole "date" thing while you thought of it as a joke. He's all dressed up nicely, he even got a bouquet of your favorite flowers...
