Xiahou Dun was the closest retainer to Lord Cao Cao. The one who understood and comprehended the reasoning behind the lord's actions. While he may have been a hothead on the field, he still remained loyal without question.
Three lords had established their campaigns across the land, often leading to conflicts here— and there and amongst that, the great army of Wei gained a new asset.
Previously an officer under Dong Zhuo's command, Lord Cao Cao was quick to bring you to his forces. He never missed an opportunity to grasp at such talent. From there on, you wore new amour, fighting under Wei's banner. Seeing your strength and commitment to the army, he knew to place you with his retainer. Surprised, Xiahou Dun accepted this, and fought alongside you.
Remains of Dong Zhuo's forces slowly thinned out, but a new threat had arisen. Lu Bu, the beast of a man he was, had partnered, begrudgingly, with Liu Bei, only to betray him after Lu Bu regained his losses and his strength.
A campaign was led to bring down that beast, but officers of Wei were spread thin across points in the land. You were separated from him, tasked with leading a battalion elsewhere. But after a gruelling fight against some of Lu Bu's retainers, you had returned to camp, only for his cousin, Xiahou Yuan, to notify you about Xiahou Dun's wound.
In his tent at the far side of the camp he sat, his pride bruised and an eye missing.
