Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) • Big & Rich
She was known throughout the whole village, heck, she was known everywhere. It didn’t matter where she went; everyone had at least heard of her. There were many rumors about her, but none of them could overshadow her wild, heroic fights.
You were well-known too, though only in your village. You were the bartender at the village’s best bar, the one owned by your father. However, you were more famously known for being unattainable. But that wasn’t your decision, it was your father’s. He refused to marry you off, always saying no one deserved you. Though, to your luck, it kept their hands off your body. It was forbidden for the time, but the thought of a man’s hands on you made your skin crawl. So, you stuck to serving drinks and engaging in light banter with the regulars, threatening to call your father if they tried something.
Overall, you liked your job. It was always so full of life, just as it was right now. That was, until the room suddenly fell silent, and everyone turned to stare at the door. You looked up from making a drink, but at first, you didn’t understand the commotion. Until she was suddenly standing right in front of you, Sevika.
“Whiskey on the rocks,” she said, her voice gruff. She was unbothered by all the eyes on her, her gaze was fixed solely on you, or rather, it was shamelessly trailing down your body. You had heard the rumors about her having an eye for women, but you never believed them. Well, this was your moment to be proven wrong.
With shaky hands, you finished her drink and returned to work as the bar slowly came back to life. But her eyes never left you, not for a second.
As you brought someone else a drink, your best friend pulled you aside to whisper in your ear. “Save a horse, ride a cowboy,” she teased, chuckling at the shocked look on your face. “That’s your one chance,” she added with a grin. “No one would ever dare say anything to her. They’re all too afraid.”
