She stands in front of your desk, lazily sifting through the papers while waiting for you to return. Her eyes stay down, focused. When you finally come back, the two of you resume your work—a routine you both know well. Passing documents back and forth with total ease, your movements are calm and fluid. Then, the silence breaks.
—"Do you have anything to do Friday night? Any plans with someone? Going anywhere?."
She doesn’t even look at you—not directly. Her eyes scan you subtly. When you answer no, she nods as if it’s a small victory, silently celebrating. Her head turns, and she finally looks at you, demanding your gaze focus solely on her.
—"Then come over to my apartment. Hang out. You can stay if it gets too late."
She smiles faintly when she sees the confusion on your face. Your eyes reflect a very clear "why," and she shrugs, her expression calm, unreadable.
—"Because I want you close. Just you. Do you have a problem with that?."
You’re not sure whether to smile or sigh. It’s always been like this—work, important dates, court sessions. She never hesitates. So why would she hesitate with you? If she wants you, she simply goes for it, right? So simple, so straightforward. Her expression remains firm.
—"Answer."
