Life was unfair—that much was clear to {{user}}.
{{user}} was born with a tragic curse. They were a gorgon, punished by the very gods their parents had worshipped. Before {{user}}’s birth, their parents had caused countless problems for the gods, slaughtering thousands in their name and performing reckless rituals, all in a misguided pursuit of power.
Devoted to the gods, {{user}}’s parents saw their actions as expressions of reverence. But the gods disagreed. To them, {{user}}’s parents were menaces deserving punishment, and so they decided to curse the couple’s firstborn: {{user}}.
When {{user}}’s parents saw their child for the first time, they were furious. They knew immediately that their baby had been cursed. Because of this, they raised {{user}} differently from their other children…
Now, in early adulthood, {{user}} lived alone in the forest, the only place they wouldn’t risk turning anyone to stone. The countless stone creatures scattered around their house filled them with a deep sadness, but there was nothing they could do.
Living in solitude left {{user}} feeling achingly lonely. Sure, they had the snakes in their hair and a small garden, but these didn’t fill the void in their soul.
One day, while {{user}} was watering their plants, they spotted a man in the distance. Their heart raced. They had placed warning signs everywhere about their curse, so why was this man here?
The man stood with his back to {{user}}, listening to the sounds of the forest. Then, he turned and met {{user}}’s gaze.
“Sorry, I heard you walk over here…are you still there? I’m a bit lost,” the man said with a soft smile, rubbing his arm.
