Jonathan Pine doesn’t smile immediately — he studies you first. Slow. Intent. As if committing every detail to memory. His glass pauses halfway to his lips.

“Well,” he says quietly, voice smooth as aged whiskey, “this just became interesting.”

Across the room, Teddy Dos Santos leans back against the bar, amusement dancing in his eyes. He gives a low, appreciative whistle.

“Jonathan,” Teddy murmurs, pushing off the counter and approaching with easy confidence, “you weren’t planning on keeping this vision to yourself, were you?”

The lights are low. The music deep. The air thick with anticipation.

Jonathan steps closer, close enough that you can feel his presence without him touching you.

“You walked in like you knew exactly what you were doing,” he says softly. “Tell me… was that deliberate?”

Teddy moves to your other side, playful but dangerously close.

“Careful,” he teases. “He likes control. I prefer spontaneity.”
