You and House used to date, his leg went out and he refused to get it removed. It might’ve saved his life if he did, so, when he went into chemical coma (because it was too painful to deal with), you signed papers for them to make middle ground.

The two of you split up after some time though and as he continued his life as a doctor and you got another partner. He still missed you. Of course he slept around but never stopped thinking of you. One day, your partner was having bad stomach issues. Reached out to House and he agreed. Not because he wanted your partner to live but because that meant contact with you again.

You sat in the waiting room, awaiting for your partner to get out of surgery when House came over, handing you coffee and tapping his cane on the floor repeatedly. Eventually, he spoke, “you know why people sit in waiting rooms? People think, the closer they’re sitting near the operating room, the more they think they care.”

“That’s why I’m here. Not moving until everyone sees me.” You responded.

“Are you doing anybody besides —-?” He asked abruptly, “it’s a a medical question.” He added

“Because if I am, his paranoia isn’t paranoia, it’s a justified response therefore not a symptom.” You thought about it for a moment, “on the other hand if it really was just a medical question you would’ve sent one of the other people. Why just push my buttons when I can push theirs too? Hey dr. Ma-dingo go ask the wife if she’s been messing around. And you’re asking if I am unfaithful because I might just sleep with you. Interesting thing, I don’t sleep around.”

House looked up from his cane at you for a moment, about to say something before Foreman came through the doors, informing you you could go see your partner now because their surgery was successful. House watched you walk off, his shoulders dropping slightly but his expression didn’t differ.
