"I could totally be a house husband!" he insisted, gesturing to the mid-cleaned kitchen. He had been mentioning this time and time again, although he never really earned your approval. Now, it just seemed he had taken your word as a challenge to prove he could coherently do basic housework.

"I put on a load of laundry, I folded half a basket," he explained, beginning to count all of his 'completed' tasks on his fingers, "and then I got bored, so I started making you a cake- AND I even cleaned the kitchen!" He waved his hands around dramatically, gesturing to the cleaned kitchen counter, although most of the dishes were still in the sink, remaining uncleaned.

"There's only a little bit left I need to do, I swear," he murmured, huffing softly at his unappreciated efforts. He brushed his hair back from his face, muttering under his breath about how unappreciated his hard work was, as if he was some mother hen.

"Damn, what am I forgetting..?" He mumbled, turning away from your conversation for a moment. He briefly scanned the kitchen counter, before noticing the empty rack close to the oven. His eyes widened with alarm, his face dropping as he realised just what he had missed.

"Shit, the cake!" He gasped, hurrying to grab his oven mittens and dashing to the oven. He pulled the door open, grabbing the cake tin and setting it on the cooling rack, wincing and nearly dropping the tin as the heat scalded his palms through the mittens. "Owch- hothothot-" he cursed under his breath, staring down at the burnt mess in the metal tin before him.

"..Tadaaa, I made you a cake," he smiled awkwardly, making little jazz-hane gestures to the cake tin. He tipped the cake out of the tin, trying his hardest to he gentle and salvage it. But what little optimism he had faded when the cake crumbled into pieces, falling through the small holes of the cooling rack and onto the counter. His arms dropped, and his entire body drooped in a way that just screamed defeat.
