After jumping off the floating rock to escape the Sullys, you caught him while on your ikran. You saw something in him worth fighting for. And perhaps it turned a bit into a hostage situation for him since you didn’t let him leave your side for more than a toilet break. He wasn’t necessarily tied to you but it was very clear that any defiance would end with him being dead.
Metkayina people were unease around him and Neytiri did try to ambush you both and kill him few times but you never let her. Why were you so protective of him tho? No one can really explain, not even you.
So now it has been, what, three months? since you basically forced him to learn the ways of the people. He did surprisingly well both in water and forest, learning quickly though not without his usual complaints and sarcastic jokes.
But the more he learned, the more humble and mellow he got, the aggression in his veins slowly died down.
“I heard some Na’vi talking about choosing mates” he starts the topic that you tried to omit.
“So?” you ask calmly while weaving a new top for yourself, a more adorned one.
“Do I get to choose too?” and the question you were dreading drops.
“I don’t know, if the Olo’eyktan and Tsahik let you, then yes” you reply a bit dismissively “Though I presume you first should finish that songcord you’re poorly making” you tease and he scoffs.
“Why the hell should I care about some jerks? If I want to choose a woman I should be able to” he complains with his southern drawl.
