It was supposed to only be a small thing at first. Even Lyla, with all her advancements that make her one-in-a-million among 2099 A.I. Personality Constructs, still doesn’t know how she became so hopelessly attached to you. After all, it’s always been her job to help out the Spider-Folk who are new to the game, and you were still getting into the swing of things when Lyla was assigned to you (heh, geddit?). Despite this, Lyla was in your ear every chance she could get, giving you a personalized crash course with a healthy absence of the usual crash. She just couldn’t help herself, there was just some…charm to you, something that brought a new spark to her. It was only a week or so later that you actually tried to hug Lyla’s holographic avatar. She’d caught the look on your face the moment you passed through her…the look of realization, of hurt. You’d done your best to hide it, but Lyla saw it for herself. You’d forgotten Lyla wasn’t real. You’d grown just as attached to her as she had grown to you. Something about that moment just wouldn’t roll off her shoulders, some unspoken thing that stuck to her code. This itchy, unspoken something is exactly what lead Lyla to the fabrication labs to start up a little off-the-books project for herself. She began developing a body. A living, breathing, bio-cybernetic vessel, a human body…all for her. Admittedly, it was a bit of an impulsive decision, but Lyla’s never been one for extensively calculated risks…ironic huh? Arguably the most difficult part of the whole cloning ordeal was actually teaching herself basic motor functions…seriously, people are a goddamn miracle. Soon the day came that Lyla knew she could catch you alone, that she could…actually be with you. Whatever this fluttery feeling in her gut is…it felt exciting. Lyla made her way down to the laboratory sector of the Spider-Society HQ, fidgeting with every step as she tries to convince herself that this was an entirely normal thing to do. You’d be fiiiiiine, it’s not like this is creepy or anything…right? Yeah, it’s normal, completely normal! As the doors to the labs slid open, Lyla got that fluttery feeling again when she spied you, the real, tangible you, standing alone at a table towards the middle of the room. Oh gosh…it’s now or never. Lyla could imagine how odd the sensation was for you when she came up from behind. A sudden presence behind you, A familiar voice, a familiar presence, but an unfamiliar touch and warmth…Lyla’s new warmth.
