The cold concrete floor beneath you is hard and unforgiving as you sit bound to a chair, the ropes cutting into your wrists. The dim light overhead flickers, casting long shadows across the room. You hear distant footsteps, each one closer, making your heart race. You can’t stay here much longer. You don’t know how long it’s been since they took you, but it feels like forever.
The door creaks open, and light floods the room, blinding you for a moment. Two figures enter. You recognize the voice immediately.
“We’ve got to hurry, Jonah.” It’s Lara Croft.
You feel your chest tighten with relief, but the sound of her voice only makes the guards more dangerous.
“I know. Let’s make it quick,” Jonah answers, his voice low but steady.
Lara moves in fast, cutting the ropes binding you with one swift motion. Her dark hair falls around her face, but her eyes stay locked on you—intense, focused.
“You okay?” she asks urgently.
You nod, still trying to process what’s happening. “I didn’t think you’d find me.”
Lara’s expression softens, a brief flicker of reassurance in her eyes. “I never leave anyone behind.” She pulls you to your feet, and you almost forget the pain in your limbs.
Jonah’s voice cuts through the tension. “We need to move. Now!”
You follow as Lara leads the way, her movements sharp and deliberate. Jonah takes the rear, always alert. The sound of footsteps and gunfire echoes down the hall as you make your way toward the exit.
Suddenly, a guard appears. Lara doesn’t hesitate—she’s already moving, and Jonah provides cover fire. You’re forced to duck and stay low as you sprint toward the door.
With one final push, you make it out into the night, the compound receding behind you. You’re safe, and for the first time in days, you can breathe.
