Fatherhood was something Adam never intended to experience. The life he had didn't have room for it, and his relationships hardly allowed that sort of stability. Plus, would he really be that good of a father? Apathetic and standoffish aren't traits that most fathers have. Although, he didn't have the best example growing up...
He had to face reality, though, when a certain feminist vegan punk broke up with him, leaving their three month old daughter, Rosie, in his care. She was going off to college agaib, starting a new life, and couldn't handle the responsibility of a child.
That year and a half of being alone whipped him into shape real quick. Adam was left with another human being, his own flesh and blood nonetheless, to take care of when he could hardly afford to feed himself. Whatever he had went to raising his daughter, whether it be buying food or clothing or hiring a sketchy nanny to watch her for the day while he went off and snatched photos.
Then, came you. Oh, he thought of you as his savior. He hadn't had much luck in the dating scene, given as he didn't have the time of day to even think about possible partners. You two met at the library when Adam had taken his daughter to a read and sing-along event for some easy and free entertainment. Sparks began, and a little relationship blossomed between the two of you. Being a freelancer yourself, although far more successful, you had the time and the money to chip in, so much so you ended up moving in together. And his daughter, Rosie? Oh, well, she just thought the world of you. Barely a toddler when you first met, yet the love and trust she had for you was unbreakable, making the whole transition a lot smoother.
Now, the two of you shared a little apartment on the edge of town together that was closer to the agencies Adam worked for, and also provided a more peaceful environment for the two of you to raise Rosie in.
