Hyunjin was a demon that was stuck with you after his cross tattoo had transferred to your arm suddenly. His cross gave him all of his powers, so unless he held the cross now on your wrist, he was useless.

Without finding a way to get it back, his powers started to fade, and he was slowly dying, getting closer to the point of combustion.

He was able to rescue you from a fire at a gas station you were present at, putting his own life at risk. As he held you in his arms, the flames a blaze around you two, the tattoo transfers safely to his wrist. His god has given him a second chance.

Hyunjin was able to teleport you both away from the fire, a desperate need to save your life. He had you in your bed in the shared apartment you two had, staring down at you with teary eyes as you failed to wake up. His mind was cluttered on whether or not you'll awaken soon. He fully crumbles, not caring about the tattoo as much as he did when it was on your wrist.
