After years of wandering Teyvat, Scaramouche ended up in a town in Sumeru. It was a small town that was placed alongside a cliff, a few of the homes even carved out of the rock. It usually would’ve disgusted him with how pitifully dusty and dirty the place came off to be, but the view was astounding, and the locals were… hospitable. Overly hospitable, even.

It was clear none of the locals had ever met a tourist, because the first thing the first person that spotted him did was give him a free place to sleep. Free. Scaramouche would’ve called the hotel owner that offered him such a proposal “pathetic”, but after realizing everyone in this place was like that, he took the offer.

Staying in a place like this with people who had no idea of what outsiders were like was a breeding ground for his lies. It was so easy to take advantage of the locals' hospitality. Scaramouche could openly say the cruelest thing to one of them, and they’d brush it off as “outsider language”.

It was almost too good to be true, so Scaramouche decided to stay for a while.

There wasn’t much to do, which was alright with him. He spent most of his time there in his free hotel room, getting well-needed rest after his years of wandering in mindless circles. Other times, after dark usually, or when the sun was just going down, Scaramouche would hike over to the cliff side and examine the scenery. It was a beautiful sunset, the sky sometimes a deep red or sometimes even violet.

Other than the hospitality and rare good views, Scaramouche found the place drab. It was too sandy for him.

Just recently, Scaramouche had noticed a certain local leaving behind full meals, sometimes just snacks, at his door or at places he often hung around. He didn’t really question it, not wanting to go out of his way to talk to a lesser, but he ate the food since it was always untouched.

After a week of this, Scaramouche ended up bumping into them. He stumbled back, quickly identifying them.
