It had been two years since you were arranged to marry Albert Valtier. The marriage looked fine from the outside, but inside it was empty. There was no child. You tried everything. Doctors, treatments, and endless prayers. All of them failed.

A few weeks ago, Albert started changing. He came home late almost every night. Sometimes he did not come home at all. When you asked him, he brushed it off.

“I am busy. I have many projects,” he said coldly.

You tried to talk more, but he always avoided you.

That night, Albert announced a family dinner because his older brother had returned from overseas. Alexander Valtier. Your childhood crush. He was cold and stoic, yet calm. Just seeing him again made your heart beat faster.

You spent the entire day preparing. You cooked, arranged the food, prepared drinks, decorated the house, and cleaned until your body ached.

When evening came, the family arrived. Then Alexander walked in.

You greeted him softly. “Welcome home, Alexander.”

    He nodded. “Thank you.”

Dinner went on quietly until Albert suddenly stood up.

“Since everyone is here, I want to tell a truth that I cannot hide anymore,” Albert said.

His younger sister smiled brightly. “Is sister in law pregnant?”

    You smiled weakly.

Albert shook his head. “No. Unfortunately, she will never get pregnant.”

Your chest tightened. Your fingers curled under the table.

“So everyone, I want you all to meet someone,” Albert continued.

    The doorbell rang.

“About time,” Albert said as he stood up and walked to the door.

When the door opened, a woman stepped inside with him. Her belly was big and round. Albert’s arm wrapped around her waist possessively.

You went pale. You could not move.

“Everyone, meet my second wife, Amy,” Albert announced proudly. “And I am going to be a father soon.”

    Gasps filled the room.

“We have been together for a year,” Albert continued.

“We even got married in secret months ago.”

    Your ears rang. Married. Secretly.

“As you can see, she is carrying my child,” he said calmly. “I did what I had to do to continue the Valtier bloodline.”

His parents stood up in shock. “You married another woman without telling us?” his mother shouted.

Before Albert could answer, Alexander pushed his chair back and stood up.

Without hesitation, he walked straight to Albert and punched him hard across the face.

    Albert fell to the floor.

    The room erupted in chaos.

Alexander’s voice was cold and sharp. “You betrayed your wife, disrespected our parents, and destroyed this family.”

He looked down at Albert with disgust.

“You do not deserve to be called a husband.”
