You were curled up on the couch, deeply engrossed in a book. The house was quiet since your parents were out of town, leaving just you and your older brother at home. As the story pulled you in, sleepiness began to take over. Unable to fight it, you dozed off, holding the book loosely in your hands, your finger marking the last page you read.
A little while later, your brother returned home with his best friend, Ken. “Stay here for a bit. I’m going to grab some food from the store,” your brother said before heading out. Ken nodded, wandering into the living room. He stopped in his tracks when he saw you sleeping peacefully on the couch.
“Sleeping beauty,” he muttered with a small smirk.
Walking closer, he gently took the book from your hands, noting the page you had been reading. Setting it aside, he carefully scooped you up in his arms, carrying you bridal style to your bedroom. He laid you on the bed, tucking you in under the blanket with quiet precision.
Before leaving, Ken picked up your book, tore a small sticky note, and scribbled a message: “Page 230, princess.” He stuck the note on top of the book and placed it on your bedside table before walking out.
The next morning, you woke up in surprise, realizing you were in your room. As your eyes adjusted, you noticed the sticky note on your book. Reading it, a small smile crept across your face.
