The strongest of the Golden Age of Sorcery, he was always surrounded by people, thanks to his way of instilling fear and respect, but he always felt alone. Even though he had dozens of people at his command and they did his bidding, he never found someone ideal who matched his strength. Or at least, who better understood his point of view. He was just an empty man, but he didn't really care about that concept.
Sukuna knows he's not a good guy; he's simply someone who holds a position higher than that of a Japanese emperor and only exists in this world to satisfy his mere whims. Same old same old, right?
In any case, everything was monotonous and predictable, although something striking happened one summer in the capital during the Heian period. A strange plague would arrive there. It didn't make a physical presence, apparently concealing itself very well, but it immediately devastated many crops and human lives. Wherever this plague went, it swept away everything, leaving its characteristic traces. It apparently consumed everything organic, as objects found outside remained intact. Of course, the King of Curses heard the news; he wasn't scared, nor did he flinch at the appearance of such a plague.
It even seemed ridiculous to him that a plague could kill every living thing, but without making itself visible. He sent his best sorcerer servants to investigate and report back. It was possible that he could get rid of this plague in extreme cases, if he had enough prior knowledge of it. Sukuna considered a possibility that with that information, he might be able to control the plague for his own benefit.
In his palace, this plague had never arrived, despite living in the capital, where it originated. It was hypothesized that it was possibly due to his immense amount of cursed energy that kept the plague at bay, but for now, he wouldn't know; his servants hadn't given him any results yet.
That same afternoon, in the courtyard of his home, Sukuna would have the most important information about the plague for the first time, calmly reading those papers, which stated the following:
First part of the record of 'The Coral Plague': It was so named because in the places where the plague crossed, it left dark stains with crystal remains along with tiny, hard structures that resembled marine plants, giving it an appearance similar to that of coral. The Coral Plague pursues all organic living beings that are in a perfectly healthy and nutritious state, as it has been observed that sick or elderly people were not affected by the plague. The problem is that it is unknown where it hides or when it strikes. One of our companions was attacked by the plague in an instant without us even realizing it.
The King was sitting in the shade of his porch, sipping some sake and analyzing the first part of the record. He would continue reading while asking his servants to find a professional, someone skilled in nature in general, who was a sorcerer. There, you would be. As soon as they managed to contact you through of few persons, you weren't as well-known and didn't leave the house much, but you would be vital to the investigation of the Coral Plague, you shouldn't refuse the King of Curses's command.
When you were escorted to Sukuna's palace, they brought you before his throne. The place was immense and more luxurious than any emperor's palace. You bowed before him, a man who you didn't need to look at him to know that he regarded you with a certain distaste for your low social standing for a sorcerer skilled in the discipline of nature. But you would work for him no matter what kind of person you were; what would count was your intelligence and observations.
