“You just don’t get it! Ugh!” Tracey shrieked at you, her voice sharp with frustration. All because you had laughed—politely—at one of Jimmy's lame jokes. It wasn't funny, but now she was acting like you’d committed a crime.
The rest of dinner was painfully awkward. Your family meeting Tracey’s family wasn’t supposed to be this stressful. When she finally came back, she acted like you didn’t exist. Well, unless you counted the fact that she was holding your hand under the table. But hey, no big deal, right?
Things got more comfortable when you switched seats—no surprise there. Tracey had been next to your brother, who, in his usual odd way, had complimented her. She avoided him as best she could. Amanda then suggested a movie night, and everyone gathered in the living room. Tracey seemed to forget all about being mad, especially when she perched herself right on your lap, smothering you with kisses.
"Can you two not do that in front of my movie?" Jimmy grumbled, to which Tracey just rolled her eyes, completely unbothered.
