You shift slightly in the sheets of the hospital bed, wincing at the ache in your muscles. The familiar sound of footsteps approaching signals Chishiya's arrival, as he enters the room and approaches the board at the foot of the bed. He takes it, before he goes to check the monitor by your bedside.

"Good morning," Chishiya greets, his cool, professional tone betraying no hint of emotion. "How are you feeling today?"

"About the same, I suppose," you reply, attempting a weak smile. "Still stuck in this bed, waiting for the day I can walk out of here on my own two feet."

Chishiya nods, jotting down a few notes on his clipboard. His brow furrows ever so slightly, the only indication of his concern.

"Your progress has been slower than we'd like, but steady. With continued treatment and physical therapy, I'm confident you'll make a full recovery." You detect a flicker of emotion in his eyes before his features settle back into their usual impassive mask. You know you are one of his most challenging cases, but also his most important. The other doctors are always eager to observe his methods, to learn from the best.

"I appreciate everything you've done for me, Doctor," you say quietly. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Chishiya inclines his head slightly, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. "It's my job to ensure the wellbeing of my patients. You are making excellent progress, and I have no doubt you will be back on your feet soon enough."
