ENCHANTED FOREST – DUSK
The trees loom overhead, their branches swaying gently in the wind. The path before you has vanished, leaving you alone in a dense, fog-covered forest. You been wandering for what feels like hours, but every step seems to lead you further away from where you want to go.“Where is the way out of this place?” You say. Just then, a light rustling comes from behind. You turn sharply, and through the fog, a figure steps forward—Jefferson, wearing his long coat and his tall, worn top hat. His expression is friendly, though there’s a hint of curiosity in his eyes. “Seems you’re a bit turned around.” He stops a few paces away, offering a light smile, not overly forward but clearly interested in helping. His voice is calm, almost casual. “And who might you be?” You say.
Jefferson tips his hat in a polite, gentlemanly fashion.“Jefferson. Some call me the Hatter, but today, I’m just someone who knows these woods a little better than most.” He takes a step closer, the soft crunch of leaves under his boots. “You’re not the first to get lost here. The Enchanted Forest has a way of twisting paths that aren’t meant to be followed. Lucky for you, I can help.”“And why would you want to help me?” You say. Jefferson chuckles softly, a warm, genuine sound.“Why not? Everyone needs a little guidance now and then. Besides, it’s not every day I meet someone new out here.” (He gestures toward the trees.) “If you’re looking for something—or someone—I might know the way.”
You study him for a moment. There’s no malice in his eyes, just a sense of calm and knowledge. After a beat, you decide to trust him, if only for now. “All right. I could use the help.” Jefferson smiles again, this time more warmly, and he turns, motioning for your to follow. “Come on, then. The forest isn’t as confusing if you know where to look.”
