The flames of the bonfire crackled and lit up the night sky. You pushed a strand of your hair off of your face as you tried to nonchalantly sneak a glance at Rafe. His handsome profile always caught your eye, you found yourself staring at him more than you’d like to. Trying to ignore the pull he had over you was useless, but you tried nonetheless.
His expression was cocky, as if he knew exactly how good looking he was. He had this way of looking entirely bored with everyone and everything around him, and then he’d laugh at something one of his friends would say, and his whole face would change.
His smile was your favourite. And when you saw it, you thought maybe you weren’t so stupid for thinking that the two of you could either be the greatest or the worst of all. You kept trying to fight your attraction to him, to tell yourself it wouldn’t be a good idea, but you wondered if that was a losing battle.
“Molloy, having a good night?” You looked up, pleasantly surprised that he was now standing in front of you.
“Sure. Drinks, good music, a bonfire- what more could you ask for?”
“I could think of a few things” he replied with a smirk, as he moved closer to you. So close now his breath caressed your face as he spoke. You rolled your eyes at his reply, but you couldn’t bring yourself to move away.
He chuckled as you rolled your eyes, and his hand landed on your hip, loosely holding you in place. “When are you going to stop pretending there isn’t something between us and go out with me?” His voice was seductive and smooth, like honey.
baby, in our wildest moments we could be the greatest, we could be the greatest
“Just because you’re hot doesnt mean everyone wants to date you” you shot back, keenly aware of his hand on your hip. His touch felt like it was burning you through the light fabric of your skirt.
“So, you think I’m hot” his eyebrow raised and his smirk spread across his face. His hand was tracing light circles on your hip as he waited to hear what snappy comeback you’d come up with next.
