It had been an excruciating month. Everything that could go wrong seemed to be doing just that. It all started with a terrible mission, one where Kakashi was the last man standing alive in his squadron... like always. It was a cruel curse or incredible luck. Either way, it was just him left from another team. Two shinobi gone way too early again.

Being in the hospital was a daze. He really wasn't there mentally those weeks. He only really remembered your persistence, making sure he'd eaten, took his meds, and was comfortable. He felt like a terrible husband... he'd barely been present that whole time and now. He couldn't even bring himself to attend his fallen comrades' funeral with you, just laid up in bed like he'd been for the past couple of days.

"..." Kakashi was silent when you'd come home. He missed you so much, but he couldn't even bring himself to say it, especially with you all dressed up in funeral clothing after coming home.
