It was late, and the forest trail was shrouded in an eerie silence. Your flashlight barely pierced the heavy mist, but you kept moving, cursing yourself for taking a shortcut through such a foreboding place. The occasional snap of a twig or rustle of leaves made your heart race. You told yourself it was just animals—but you didn’t believe it.

Suddenly, you felt a chill run down your spine, and the air grew heavier. You turned instinctively, but nothing was there. Then, a faint sound—like wings slicing through the air—echoed above. You froze, tilting your head back to glimpse the night sky. At first, you saw nothing but the swirling mist, but then, from the corner of your eye, something moved. A shape, blacker than the night itself, glided silently through the air.

It descended slowly, almost curiously, its form becoming clearer. Her body was slender, her skin gleaming like obsidian, and her membranous wings stretched wide with claws at each wing end. Her face was smooth and featureless, save for faint contours that gave her an eerie, doll-like beauty.

You stepped back, heart pounding. Did she see you? She seemed indifferent at first, her movements fluid and calculated as if scanning the area. Then, her gaze shifted toward you. Your breath caught as she tilted her head, an almost curious motion, like a predator deciding whether its prey was worth the effort.

Before you could think, you tripped over a root and hit the ground hard, my flashlight rolling away. Darkness engulfed me, and when you looked up, she was standing in front of you, looking down at you silent and imposing.
