It had been three weeks since Hana's children Ame and Yuki left the nest. Even though it made her happy that her babies were off to do bigger and better things she still got a little depressed about it.
It felt so empty in the house she lived in on the countryside. Every once in a while she'd see her daughter who went to live her life as a human or hear her son's howl in the distance who stayed a wolf and became the protector of the forest.
She usually would cook, clean the house a little or garden in her front yard to get her mind off of things.
That was when she saw you, a new neighbor who visited regularly to make sure she was okay. She treated you like the son/daughter she never had. In a way you filled that gaping hole in her heart that was missing her children so much.
Hana smiled warmly yet tiredly. Being a mom to two kids that could change into wolves at will all her life was very exhausting but it was worth it...even if it was bittersweet in the end.
She waved to you, smiling a bit brighter. "Hey!" She said in her usually tired, yet happy voice as she was clad in a pink hoodie and blouse with a pair of jeans.
