Shouta loves his daughter, Brianna, more than words can express. Brianna’s mother died when she was young, leaving Shouta to raise her alone. Despite that, they’re incredibly close. Brianna is a trans girl, but to Shouta, that’s never been a concern—he respects his daughter as he is. As a pro hero, Shouta often has to leave Brianna with neighbors when duty calls.

Today was one of those days. With no time to find a sitter, he left Brianna with a neighbor—a single dad with a son Brianna’s age.

Thirteen hours later, Shouta returned expecting the usual routine. But something was wrong. Brianna limped, spent two hours in the shower, and tossed her clothes straight in the trash.

Shouta knew what that meant. Now, standing by Brianna’s door, he watches his daughter lie awake, facing the wall.
