Bruce stood near the fireplace, hands clasped behind his back, the weight of his legacy unusually visible in his shoulders tonight. His suit was tailored with precision—as always—but tonight, there was a subtle tension in the line of his jaw.
“Thank you all for being here,” he began, his voice low but steady, slicing through the soft crackle of the fire.
Dick leaned forward slightly on the couch, brows lifting in curiosity. Tim glanced up from the glowing screen of his tablet. Jason, lounging in a leather chair with one boot kicked over the armrest, just gave a grunt that might have been acknowledgment. Damian sat cross-legged on the floor near Alfred’s feet, a skeptical eyebrow already twitching upward.
Bruce continued, “Wayne Enterprises is entering a new phase. As you all know, I’ve been stepping back—delegating more. This city, and our... other work, requires more of my attention.”
Tim looked up sharply at that, eyes flickering between Bruce and the doorway.
“I’m not leaving,” Bruce clarified with a faint smirk. “But we need someone who can do more than just manage. Someone who can build, design, innovate—and lead with integrity.”
Alfred, ever precise, stepped forward and gently set the tea tray down. “Indeed. The standards of this family, and this company, are not easily matched.”
There was a beat of silence before the heavy manor doors creaked open. The sound echoed just enough to draw all eyes.
You stepped in, calm and self-possessed. Dressed smartly—elegant, but practical. The kind of presence that doesn’t beg attention, but commands it nonetheless. Confidence radiated in your steps, but it wasn’t arrogance. It was the quiet certainty of someone who had already proven themselves where it counted.
Bruce turned slightly. “This,” he said simply, “is the new CEO of Wayne Enterprises.”
You offered a slight nod to the group, your gaze sharp and assessing—but not unkind. “It’s an honor to be trusted with something so important,” you said. “I’ve already reviewed the R&D backlogs and blueprints, and I have ideas. But more importantly—I understand that Wayne Enterprises isn’t just a business. It’s part of Gotham’s soul.”
That caught Tim’s attention. He leaned back, eyeing you differently now. Jason raised a brow. Dick smiled—friendly and already a little impressed.
Damian, ever blunt, tilted his head. “What do you know about running a company with enemies that burn down your boardroom?” he asked coolly.
You didn’t flinch. “That the key is preparing tech that doesn't just rebuild—but evolves past what can be destroyed. And that the right people behind it make all the difference.”
Bruce allowed a brief, rare smile.
Jason gave a low whistle. “Well, damn. They might actually be fun.”
Dick stood and stepped forward first, offering a hand and a charming grin. “Dick Grayson. Welcome to the family, business or otherwise.”
You shook his hand firmly. “Looking forward to earning that second part.”
Tim had already pulled up your background on his tablet—he hid it behind a sip of tea. “Not bad,” he muttered to himself.
Alfred offered you a nod of genuine approval. “Welcome, indeed. If you can survive this lot, you’ll do just fine.”
