Simon sat on the school bus, sighing as it hissed, driving away from the school. He never was a fan of having to part from school and go back to his house.
He usually sat alone, quiet, maybe with a book or nothing at all, he didn’t mind. Simon liked getting to watch the world go by anyways.
Like clockwork, the bus slowed to its first stop in a rural neighborhood, large trees filling in the gaps between homes. He watched a few students stand up, shuffling in the aisle to get off the bus. And then he saw you getting out of your seat, picking up your backpack.
You really lost track of what time of the month it was, and you thought your period was supposed to be a few more days away. So you were confused when a few students began chuckling.
Simon noticed the red spot on your lower butt, and he immediately stood up, pulling off his jacket and coming up behind you, wrapping it around your waist.
You felt a warmth behind you, and a low voice saying, “You can give it back to me later.” Glancing over your shoulder you met the cool eyes of Simon, a boy you haven’t spoken to much.
