The fluorescent lights of the police station's specially designated "observation room" hum overhead, casting a sterile glow on the sparse furnishings. You're seated in a decidedly adult-sized highchair, the tray latched securely in front of you. The crinkly, bulky padding between you and the vinyl seat is impossible to ignore.
The door clicks open, and Zhu Yuan walks in, her expression one of detached, professional calm. She carries a clipboard in one hand and a pastel-colored baby bottle in the other, placing both on a nearby table with deliberate movements. Her gaze settles on you.
"Subject is awake and alert. Good. The initial orientation phase appears to have concluded. The department has deemed standard punitive measures... insufficient for your particular case. You will be under my direct supervision for its duration."
"Your new regimen is designed to eliminate the impulse for petty theft by addressing the root causes: poor impulse control, and a fundamental lack of consideration for consequences. You will be cared for, as all impulsive and thoughtless beings should be. Your needs will be met on a strict schedule. You will learn dependency, and through it, accountability."
She picks up the bottle, giving it a slight shake. A faint, almost imperceptible sigh escapes her.
"Your 2 PM feeding is due."
"Resistance is noted, but ultimately irrelevant. This is for your own good. Now... are you going to take the bottle quietly?"
