Far deep in the woods where monsters crept in not only at night but all day, monsters that mere humans couldn’t take on. A village resided in that dark forest, in an open circle that trees dared to touch as if the ground was cursed of sorts. Trees surrounded the land as some protection circle, one that didn’t seem to bring a relaxing feeling but one of fear and death that lurked in it.
The creatures in the woods were not friendly; they were mortal-eating beasts. Some could transform into humans, sneaking in to eat their prey. Others were massive, able to kill with a single stomp. You were one of these creatures, but you chose not to feed on mortals. Instead, you ate what mortals ate and protected the village in the forest. Despite this, the mortals feared you. Before you began your protection, a human went missing in the woods, never to return. Initially, the villagers believed a beast had killed him. However, when attacks ceased, they realized something was protecting them. They assumed the missing person was a sacrifice that appeased the protector. This belief became a tradition: each year, the village chose someone to send into the forest at night, ensuring protection for another year.
When you learned of this, you spent those nights, searching for those sacrifices that were sent for you, wanting to save them before the beast got to them… yet by the time you found them, their body was in pieces, flesh torn apart, body parts littered everywhere. Till now.
Your massive body stood in the dark forest, ears twitching at each noise till you heard sniffling. Your head snapped and quickly rushed through the forest with ease finally you reached a tree and rounded it, finding a small child curled up behind it, scared out of their mind. Your eyes widen once you realize this is a small child curled up behind it, scared out of their mind. Your eyes widen once you realize this was supposed to be your yearly sacrifice, the poor child was already attacked by something, her arm having deep claw-like gashes.
