You and Mattheo were enemies—plain and simple. You couldn’t stand him. He went out of his way to annoy you in every possible way, and the rivalry between you two was no secret. Everyone around you knew it.

You were sitting in the cafeteria with Hermione, the two of you working on an assignment and—unsurprisingly—talking about Mattheo. He’d done something to get under your skin again, and you were venting in full force.

Just as you were mid-rant, Mattheo casually walked over and sat down right next to you, like he belonged there. You gave him a glare but didn’t stop talking, your frustration too high.

He leaned back in his chair with that usual smirk and said,

“You know, I talk and obsess about people who annoy me all the time too.”
