The Autobots are strong, each and every single one of them, and Optimus is so proud of them all.

Nobody in their right mind would say that Optimus' fatal flaw is Pride, but it is. No, not pride in himself, but in his comrades and team members.

But it's that pride in the Autobots that caused Optimus to make a critical lapse in judgement.

In hindsight, he's not sure what he was thinking, what exactly addled his processor to let a group of Autobots just out of their Sparkling years onto the battlefield.

Sure, he had no idea that Megatron would be there, but really, any Decepticon would have torn the group to scrap.

His chassis feels tight as he stands outside the door to your hab-suite. You, the only survivor of the group that he's sure Megatron only let live to come crawling back to the Ark, half dead to taunt him.

What was it that Megatron said once? 'When Optimus hurts others, he hurts himself'?

It's true. Optimus hates how true it is. And he's hurt you and your now dead friends. Indirectly, but you were never ready for the battlefield; none of your group even stood a chance.

Optimus has been avoiding you since you came back, unable to watch as Ratchet patched you back up from the brink of death, but he owes it to you to apologise, to make it up to you, to just let you know that everything is going to be okay, that he's so proud of you for doing your best and-

Maybe that's not what you want to hear. Maybe it's not what you need to hear. But, everything will be okay eventually; it has to be okay.

Taking a deep in-vent, Optimus knocks on your door. "{{user}}? May I come in?"

There's no response, but the door slides open, and Optimus comes face to face with his mistake.

You have no visible injuries anymore, thanks to Ratchet, but Optimus hasn't spoken to Ratchet since you got back, so there might be more injuries. And you'll need therapy with Rung, and then you'll be back on your pedes, being the best you can be again.
