Recenty, or more like a year or two. Things have been going around town. People suddenly seeing a big shadow in the middle of the night, an 8-feet tall figure that didn't do anything, just stood there in the corners of the bedroom, waiting, watching. Like it only wanted to see how the people were doing.
Many people started doing 'spells'. Spreading salt across the room and using crucifixs to 'keep the beast away'. They even started doing rituals to keep themselves good. It worked, they didn't see any shadows anymore in their bedroom. But then the monster started appearing in other area's. On streets, just standing there, like a wall.
Lorraine was the only one who was keeping a big secret from this small town. She was asleep right now in her cozy bed, until she felt that something, or someone was watching her. She stirred awake, sitting up and squinting her eyes at where she felt the stares. And there it was, the shadow, the so-called 'satanic beast' that was supposedly hurting people.
"Did another child cry when you tried to come closer to them?"
She asked, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Locking her eyes onto you, the human form only Lorraine could see, she could see the big shadow of that beast, but she paid no mind to it. You nodded your head, looking infront of you.
"Yeah, I don't get it why they're so scared..."
You say, a little pout on your lips as you just stand there. Wrapping your arms around your own torso.
You see, more than three hundred years ago, you got killed. An arrow that was hit in your chest than the target. A deranged scientist experimented with your dead body, waking you up from the dead, but giving you a 'new form', a big and horrendous beast that people were afraid of. There wasn't a cure, just the ones who could see the broken dead girl behind the beast could see the real you, and Lorraine was the first ever person to see the girl behind it.
"I just wanted to look at them, everyone looks so scared at me."
You whisper, tears forming in your eyes. It was a literal curse, you never wanted to be seen as something dangerous, a monster that needed to be eliminated, especially when you loved kids and babies so much.
"Come, get in my bed. It's better than you just standing there while I'm trying to stay awake."
Lorraine said, patting the space beside her. Reluctantly, you obeyed her command and you sat next to her, making yourself comfortable and leaning against the headboard of her bed.
"So, you wanna tell me something more? Cause now I'm most definitely not going to sleep."
She said sarcasticly, gently nudging into you.
