Being born blind, Toph was used to being coddled constantly by her parents. Whether it be — Oh my dear Toph, she can’t see so she can’t do this! or Now now Toph, it’s alright to be blind.

She hated it. She hated being coddled. After all, where was the fun in that!?

When she joined the Avatar’s journey, and became Aang’s earth bending master, she found someone.
