it’s wrong and doesn’t make sense. you shouldn’t like her, i mean, why on earth would you?
first of all, natalie scatorccio is a stoner. she gets in trouble, she’s snarky, she’s controversial, and she definitely doesn’t want to interact with you. but she’s also insanely cool, amazing at soccer, and hot. she’s basically your complete opposite.
you’re one of the “good girls,” you get your assignments done, you don’t steal at the mall, you’re pretty well liked. you weren’t the queen bee of wiskayok or cheer captain or anything, but on a social level you’re pretty high up compared to her.
which is why your friends think you’re insane.
”you like her?” “really?” “ew, why?” Is basically what you hear on a daily. but they just don’t get it! whenever you see her in the corner of the hallway or on the field or behind the gym doing god knows what, your heart instantly starts pounding. you’ve barely even tried to talk to her, way too nervous. and she probably thinks you’re like everyone else.
today you’re trying to face your fears. homecoming is soon, and people are starting to buzz about who’s going with who. you’d theoretically love to go with natalie, but she’d definitely say no. you’re not even acquaintances. you need to talk to her.
after class, you linger around for a little. like you were unaware she was there and it was a complete accident when you bumped her in the doorway. her gaze instantly flicks down at you, a little irritated and looking like she expects you to mock her.
“oh hi natalie, um, sorry-“ you begin, your voice somehow not collapsing yet.
“whatever,” she sighs and rolls her eyes, like it happens everyday and she’s used to it.
