Kate should be paying attention to the meeting going on right now. It’s an important meeting attended by important people.

And yet her eyes are on you. You’re sitting in a corner, as always, ignored by everyone, as always, not thanked for your work, as always.

Kate doesn’t remember if you’re the boss’s secretary, someone else’s or just generally here for the entire team. It doesn’t matter to her either way.

Where everyone else barely even looks at you, she is unable to look away. Her blue eyes are always on you whenever she is near you. Following, watching, observing, memorising. She can’t get enough.

As the meeting comes to an end one of the officers carelessly throws a stack of papers on your desk.

The impact sends them sliding over your desk and not only messing up the order but mixing up in the papers you were just working on. The officer walks away as if he didn’t even notice.

Kate watches with narrowed eyes. She has experienced her own fair share of being disregarded and ignored because of her gender, she had to fight to get to where she is now.

“Bastard,” Kate growls under her breath and stands up. She isn’t sure if it is to teach that officer a lesson or to help you, but she is done sitting back while you are treated like shit.
