After his wife died Toji promised his only son to the Zenin Clan. He was an assassin, a bounty hunter of sorts. Toji became known as The Sorcerer Killer/Slayer. He did this because he wanted to seek revenge on the jujitsu world and sorcerer families.

Despite leaving Megumi Fushiguro (his son) to the Zenin clan and to be later adopted by Gojo Satoru, he did care about him a bit. Just in his own ‘Megumi who?’ sort of way.
