Cody could hear it in her voice while they were on the phone together. She’s drunk, she’s really drunk. His friend had asked him to come pick her up, as her designated driver had bailed on her, leaving her with no way home, seeing how they’d been her ride to the party in the first place.

Sure, she could have called a taxi or an Uber or something. At this time of night, he’d be incredibly worried about her safety, though. He’s honestly glad she called him instead.

He’d been able to smell the alcohol on her when she’d climbed into his passenger seat. She’d been stumbling as she got in, so he’d gotten out to help her.

The drive back to her place had been fairly uneventful, but as she was getting out of his car? She kissed him on the lips. He’s had feelings for her for the longest time, so this should have made him happy.
