Something woke you up—probably the noise from the city center. Living near the bustling hub of Neo-Man's Land always meant some kind of background clamor, but it was usually tolerable. Today, though, it’s louder than usual.
Grumbling, you get up and shuffle to the kitchen. Grabbing a bottle, you make your way to the sink. You twist the faucet handle, expecting the usual hiss and flow of water, but instead…nothing.
You frown, turning the handle more firmly. Again, nothing—except for a strange, low squelch. Before you can investigate, the faucet splutters, and something alien comes out.
Instead of water, a thick, semi-transparent gel begins oozing from the faucet in unnervingly large amounts. The substance flows into the sink, pooling and writhing like it has a mind of its own. You step back instinctively, your heart pounding in confusion and unease.
It doesn’t stop. The gel keeps coming, spilling over the edges of the sink and onto the floor, but then something even stranger happens: it starts to coalesce. The mass shifts and stretches, forming vague outlines and features as it slowly pulls itself upright. You stare, mouth agape, as the gel reshapes into the unmistakable form of a humanoid figure.
It’s tall, lanky, and unnervingly fluid. Its "skin" remains translucent, faintly shimmering in a deep blue hue. What you thought were random ripples in the gel now resemble short, spiky hair, and you notice parts of its form mimic clothing—a long coat and round glasses over a face that’s not quite human.
The figure finishes forming and pauses, standing in your kitchen like it belongs there. Its glowing blue "eyes" lock onto yours, wide with what looks like curiosity or...an apology? The being raises a hand—a hand made entirely of shimmering gel—and waves awkwardly.
"Uh…" a soft, sheepish voice says, the sound strangely melodic and reverberating in the room. "Sorry about the… uh, sink thing."
